One of the biggest rising stars in the Alt Rock scene shows what they are made of in London.

The message was clear from when you step into Heaven in London. Notices around the venue promoting pro-love. "PRO LOVE AND RESPECT! NO HARASSMENT, RACISM, HOMOPHOBIA, TRANSPHOBIA, XENOPHOBIA, ABLEISM". Lead singer Amy Love addressed the crowd midway through Nova Twins' set saying "You know what we stand for, pro-love, pro respect: it doesn't matter what you look like, everyone is welcome here". As I said in my Trash Boat review, the rock and alternative scene has been plagued with discrimination such as Homophobia and misogyny as well racism and xenophobia so once again it's so refreshing to see a band address these issues unapologetically and make a safe environment for fans, allowing them to be who they want to be and feel no shame in doing so. Also having On Wednesdays We Wear Blacks Alyx Holcombe do a DJ set and Connie Constance as main support was a fantastic example of Women in the alternative scene making their mark and changing the scene for the better.
As soon as Nova Twins got onstage you knew they were not in London to mess about. they opened their set with 'Antagonist' which got the whole room bouncing and was a sign of things to come. The setlist was a great demonstration of the past, present and future of the band. Fans of their recent album, 'Who Are The Girls?' would have been happy to hear songs like 'Taxi' and deeper cuts such as 'Athena'. First EP fans would be delighted to hear tracks such as 'Wave' and 'Bassline Bitch'. It made for a well-balanced setlist with something for every Nova Twins fan to take away from the show. The band even played some of their new signals such as 'K.M.B' and the catchy 'Cleopatra' which I'd say were the highlights of the set. Goes to show that the best is still yet to come from the band.

The sounds that the band can make just from a bass, guitar and drums are out of this world. Georiga South's basslines are mindblowing. It would leave the likes of Cliff Burton and Mike Kerr scratching their heads to how she makes these insane sounds from her bass. Amy Love's guitar work fit in well with this too. The shrikes from her pinpoint guitar playing just enhance the extraordinary sound of Nova Twins. Amy's vocals are also something that has to be admired. Her ability to sing, scream and rap is unmatched.'Bassline Bitch' was the perfect example of this with Amy delivering her rap verse with ease.

As well as the duo's fantastic set, The production of the show was something I'd expect from a stadium show but this did not stop the Duo from bringing pyro, confetti and an awesome light show which perfectly accompanied the concert. It's clear that this duo should be playing much bigger venues and with this display, I think that this is only a matter of time before we see them playing in some of the biggest academies and arenas in the country and then some.

This gig was a perfect example of the talents of the Nova Twins and how they are leading a revolution in rock and alternative music. You would be a fool to miss them at any festivals or shows they are playing later this year. The sheer talent and skill on display at this gig was incredible and I'm looking forward to seeing where this takes them. The girls are certainly in town and they are here to make their mark on the music world.
