The rock and metal festival will be in full swing as we enter the second day at Donington Park

Download Main Stage in 2018

After what will be a great day of music on day one, day two of Downalod Festival will see more amazing acts play the rock and metal festival. Your headliner tonight will be the British metal legends, Iron Maiden. It's been my dream to see the band play at Download so I can't wait to see them. As well as this, there are many other bands to look forward to.

1. Cassyette

Stage: Opus Stage

Time: 12:15

For Fans Of: Nova Twins, Vukovi, Wargasm

We start our day at Download with one of the biggest emerging talents in the UK. What separates Cassyette from the rest is her versatile vocals which can go from beautiful vocals to heavy screams and her music which mixes heavy rifts with electronic music. She has also announced a tour in September, has featured on Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes' latest album and has been busy releasing her own music over the last couple of years. If you want to see what all the fuss is about then get yourself down early to the Opus stage.

2. Salem

Stage: The Avalanche Stage

Time: 12:45

For Fans Of: Trash Boat, Dead!, Milk Teeth

Will Gould has a busy day ahead of him on Saturday at Download. He starts his day off playing with his band Salem, a group where he has teamed up with Matt Reynolds to create a punk rock sound that will rock The Avalanche Stage and get the circle pits going. The band have recently featured on the new Scream films soundtrack with a rendition of 'Fall out of love' featuring Carlie Hanson which has given the band more fans. They will be perfect to get the Download crowd warmed up. You can also catch Will later on in the day with his band Creeper who I last saw play an incredible set in London and have recently toured with Alice Cooper, The Cult and My Chemical Romance. Both bands will certainly put on a good show for the Download crowd.

3. grandson

Stage: The Avalanche Stage

Time: 4:25

For Fans Of: Twenty One Pilots, Mike Shinoda, Yonaka

Grandson is probably one of the more unique artists who is playing Download. His mix of electronic, rock and rap music makes him stand out on the lineup and also with millions of streams under his belt with songs such as 'Riptide', 'blood//water' and more will guarantee that he will get a huge crowd at The Avalanche Stage. He also tackles subjects in his songs such as mental health and anxiety which has made him very relatable to fans across the globe. He has also worked with so many major names such as K.Flay, X Ambassadors, Steve Aoki and Mike Shinoda just to name a few. To see a massive rising star on such a small stage will be something not to be missed.

4. Megadeth

Stage: Opus Stage

Time: 7:30

For Fans Of: Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer

Old school fans of Download will welcome Megadeth back to the festival with open arms as the band return to the festival for the first time since 2016. The band have been going for over 30 years since the lead singer Dave Mustaine got kicked out of Metallica and have gained praise from fans and critics all over the world and have inspired so many of the metal bands of today. The main reason why I'm so excited is that it's been my dream to see the "big four" of thrash metal. This is made up of the innovators of the thrash metal scene which include Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and of course Megadeth. I saw Metallica in 2017 in London and both Anthrax and Slayer at Download in 2019. Seeing this set will be something special and will delight the Download crowd.

5. Zoe London

Stage: The Doghouse

Time: 00:30

For Fans Of: Enter Shikari, Bring Me The Horizon, Avicii

So you thought I was just going to talk about the bands at Download? The amazing thing about Download is that it's not all about bands. This festival plays host to many great DJs sets as well including sets from the likes of Alyx Holcombe, Tasmin Taylor, Sophie K and Yasmine Summan from the podcast On Wednesday We Wear Black and Daniel P Carter from BBC Radio One. The one I'm looking forward to the most is Zoe London who will be playing just after Iron Maiden. Zoe is an amazing DJ who will mix your favourite rock and Metal tunes with pop and dance tracks. This will be something which will blow your mind and show you how you can mix genres of music together. Zoe is no stranger to Download either as she has played many sets over the year as well as sets at other festivals such as Slam Dunk and the recent Bring Me The Horizon festival in Malta. Her set will be a brilliant end to Saturday night and will keep you dancing and headbanging till the early hours of the morning.
